"I don't just teach you what to say — I teach you how to read the room like a local."
I'm a native speaker from Lisbon, and in this book I teach you the unwritten rules. When Portuguese people go quiet in lifts and how to break the ice. When "está bem" means everything is fine and when it really doesn't. When small talk kicks in, slang starts flying, and everything you carefully learned suddenly feels useless — I've got you there too.
After listening to hundreds of newcomers who moved to Portugal and struggled to adapt, I built the audio experience I wish had existed for them.
Portugal will be running in your veins before you know it. Welcome in. 🌿
Why I built this
I've moved abroad twice. Both times to places where I didn't master the language and nothing felt familiar — but it wasn't only the vocabulary I lacked, it was the cultural know-how. I can see that same pattern with people newly arrived in Portugal, like my students, and easing that experience for them shapes everything I create.
They had apps. They had textbooks. But none of it prepared them for the barista, the landlord call, the Finanças queue.
Survive in Portugal grew out of that. It's not just vocabulary — it's becoming culture-fluent in Portugal: the everyday language basics for daily interactions, plus the local know-how that helps you actually live here.
